Bwindi - Uganda - Natural Process
Sourced from the lush highlands of Bwindi in Uganda’s Kanungu District, this naturally processed coffee is a testament to the region’s rich biodiversity and smallholder farmers’ dedication. Grown at elevations between 1,900 and 2,200 meters above sea level, it embodies the distinct flavors of Uganda’s terroir.
The Natural Process:
Carefully harvested between November and January, the coffee cherries undergo a natural drying process, allowing the fruit to ferment and impart deep, complex flavors into the beans. This method enhances the coffee’s inherent sweetness and fruit-forward characteristics, creating a rich and layered cup.
Flavor Profile:
Expect a beautifully balanced cup with rich malt and cooked coffee cherry notes at the forefront, followed by hints of amaretto. The vibrant tangy acidity complements a clean, fruity sweetness, while undertones of cooked berry, caramel, and apple add depth to the experience.
Roast Level: Light-Medium
Varieties: SL14, SL28, Nyasaland, Bugisu
Recommended Brew Methods: Filter & Espresso
A thoughtfully crafted coffee that captures the essence of Uganda’s highlands—bold, sweet, and naturally refined.
